Sheila O’Reilly
Director of Nursing.
Sheila joined the staff at Bishopscourt Residential Care in September 2010 as Director of Nursing. Prior to this she worked for a number of years as Public Health Nurse, and more recently as Assistant Director of Public Health Nursing with the HSE South. During that time she completed the H.Dip. in Health Care Management and the MA in Gerontology. Her field work for UCC was based on examining the relationship between challenging behaviour and cognitive and physical functioning with residents in Nursing Homes. Sheila is a highly skilled nurse who has specialised in working with older people in a variety of settings and is acutely aware of the complex gerontological needs in providing a seamless transition for the resident coming from home to long term care. She possesses a broad gerontological knowledge and practices as an ‘expert’. Sheila leads, supports and empowers the Nursing and Care team at Bishopscourt to deliver high quality care in a homely and friendly manner. As well as assisting the residents to achieve optimal health, wellbeing, and quality of life, consistent with the resident’s values and wishes. Sheila has worked tirelessly to improve the care standards and that we deliver resident- centred care at all times.
